We are proud to announce that Kelly McGoldrick has been selected as our Orono Spartans Co-Head Alpine Ski Coach with her father Brian McGoldrick.
Kelly comes to us with over 20 years of downhill ski instruction in Minnesota and at Beaver Creek Ski School. Kelly has 6 years of developmental race coaching with the Buck Hill Development race team. Kelly raced alpine in High School for Wayzata Senior High School.
Kelly is a kindergarten teacher in the Wayzata School District. She is a graduate of Wayzata Senior High school, and holds a Master’s in Education from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s in Public Health from Boston University.
Kelly’s coaching philosophy centers on the belief that strong relationships are the foundation of any successful team.
I am committed to fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, open communication, and shared goals. Whether you are an athlete, parent, fellow coach, or supporter of our team, your involvement and support are invaluable. My goal is to not only develop skilled athletes but also to help each player grow as individuals both on and off the course.
Kelly is looking forward to continuing the work of Orono’s prior coach Heidi. Kelly is excited to meet the athletes and their families.
We are proud to announce that Brian McGoldrick has been selected to serve as our co-head coach along with his daughter Kelly for the Orono ski team.
Brian has lived and worked in Minnesota most of his life, with two years in Colorado and three in California. He started teaching in junior ski clubs in Minnesota and California before joining the ski school at Buck Hill in Burnsville, Minnesota, now almost forty years ago. He also taught during the holiday seasons at Beaver Creek Colorado and Yellowstone Club in Montana.
His ski coaching experience includes 10 years as a high school head coach at Breck H.S., and 20 years as a development team coach at Buck Hill.
The coaching team of Brian and Kelly looking forward to joining the Orono and carrying on the work of Heidi, the former coach. Our goal is to provide a safe experience to improve skills, help racers achieve goals and create their high school experience.
Director of Athletics and Student Activities Paul Brunner stated, "We are thrilled to have Brian and Kelly lead our ski team. They are mission-driven leaders, committed to use the sport of skiing to impact the lives of young people, which aligns perfectly with our department goal of leveraging education-based athletics in a culture of belonging for human growth and development. Great days ahead for Orono ski team."
